Mission and Invitation
The Amherst, Pelham and Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools provide a rich array of volunteer opportunities which address the educational needs of all students and support educational programming and school community needs. Fortifying school success for all students fosters language, literacy and social skills. Community members and college students are encouraged to become volunteers to support learning and to facilitate positive community involvement, partnership and collaboration.
Volunteer opportunities in the ARPS District include chaperoning, observations, interning, student teaching, practicum/pre-practicums, academic tutoring, lunch/recess monitors, afterschool programs, athletic coaching, performing arts productions, studies for research and ARPS Family Center outreach programs and events.
Adults are encouraged to become volunteers and support students, staff and programs throughout the school year. All volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI)/Sexual Offender Registry Information (SORI) Form as well as the Placement Form prior to service. If you are a student teacher or practicum/pre-practicum student and will be compensated for any substitute or instructional work, please contact Ms. Newman-Rose (contact information below) to schedule an appointment with Human Resources. Depending on the work, you may also be asked to be fingerprinted as well.
*If you are a college student interested in becoming an America Reads/Counts Tutor, please see the link and/or contact Ms. Newman-Rose.
