The Committees endorse as a high priority the goal of providing all students with a broad spectrum of information on career opportunities and an extensive set of learning options for developing:
- Knowledge, skills and attitudes useful in most occupations; and
- Specialized knowledge and skills useful in career areas selected by individual students.
In pursuing this goal, the Committees believe that more students will be served by providing career information and specific and general occupational training programs at varying age levels in a comprehensive school system. Then students can emphasize either the academic or occupational aspects of a curriculum at the most meaningful times in their individualized learning programs.
