It is the policy of the School Committee to comply with the regulatory requirements of the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and the requirements of Section 5145 of the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989. Specifically, it is the School Committee’s policy:
- To notify all employees that the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of a controlled substance is prohibited in the workplace, that such action will lead to disciplinary action including possible dismissal, and that a drug-free awareness program will be established to inform employees of the requirements of this new legislation.
- To adopt and implement a certifiable program to prevent the use of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees in accordance with the requirements specified in Section 5145.
