Hi! I am Micki Darling, the principal at Pelham Elementary School. Prior to taking on this role, I was a special education teacher for 6 years, and a classroom teacher for 6 years. I have taught second grade, fourth grade and special education. When I am not at Pelham School, I am with my family, my husband and our three boys, 20, 18 and 16. You might find me at the ice rink watching hockey, at a track or cross country meet, at the fields watching ultimate frisbee, hiking mountains or beaches with friends, or visiting my extended family.
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to work with kids. After graduating from Boston College, I moved to Telluride Colorado to work as an assistant editor to an independent newspaper, to ski, coach soccer, and explore. Upon returning to the east coast, I started my Masters in Education at Lesley University. I love working with students and helping them to not only learn, but to become the incredible individuals they are meant to be. I believe that all humans have gifts and that everyone is needed for what they bring. I am proud to be part of a school community that focuses on social justice and anti-racism. We need the contribution of all the talents, all of the personalities, and the various perspectives! I love our small school community and believe we are all responsible for creating and sustaining this special school community; the parents/guardians, the students, the staff and the Pelham residents.
Micki Darling
