Welcome to Pelham School!

May 14th, 2023 Pelham School Newsletter

Dear Pelham Families,

Pelham Elementary celebrates a tradition of excellence in education by setting high expectations for our student’s academic, social, and emotional growth.  Our dedicated highly trained staff and our incredibly supportive parents work together to encourage the development of our students as eager, life-long learners and as compassionate, responsible human beings.

I am looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year and all of the learning, friendships, community, and fun!  My name is Micki Darling and this is my second year as the interim principal of Pelham School.  I am a learning-focused principal and work tirelessly to shape a vision of academic success for all students. Most importantly, I bring a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I bring my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support all of our students.

Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, we encourage you to become involved in every way possible. With the goal of continuing the tradition of excellence here at Pelham Elementary School, we are committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. There are several ways to get involved and help in these goals; the school council, the PTO, and the Social Justice and Equity Committee. We will be meeting with parents, students, and as a staff throughout the year to identify specific goals in the areas of student achievement, school climate, and parent communication.

Please feel free to reach out to myself (darlingb@arps.org) or Jess (nardizzij@arps.org) if you have any questions.

Your Principal,

Micki Darling

A Word

From Our Superintendent

” The mission of our district is to support our talented students in every step of their educational journey, from Pre-K to graduation, and to help them become successful, contributing members of our multicultural society. We challenge students to strive toward the outer edge of their skill level, while still maintaining a whole-child approach that supports their creativity and social skills development. ARPS teachers are experts in their field who are deeply knowledgeable about their content, but their dedication to students is what draws families to our schools.
ARPS students are incredibly academically successful, and we are extremely proud of that success; however, we have just as much pride in our students’ cultural and social growth. ARPS has a very diverse student body, with more than 40 native languages spoken. As a community, we honor all of our students’ heritages with an unwavering commitment to equity and social justice. Those commitments, along with our unique demographics, ensure that ARPS students learn as much from each other as they do from the formal curriculum.
I am honored to serve the ARPS community as we work together to help our students reach their goals and realize their full potential. Welcome to ARPS! ”

– Dr. Michael Morris
