Slam Dunk of a Fundraiser Supports ARHS Class of 2027

May 15, 2025

Home 9 High School 9 Slam Dunk of a Fundraiser Supports ARHS Class of 2027

On a lively early release day, the ARHS Class of 2027 brought students together for an action-packed 3-on-3 basketball tournament that raised funds to support both the class and the ARHS Basketball Program. With 16 co-ed teams made up of ARHS students competing in a single-elimination tournament, the gym was full of energy and excitement.

This event could not have happened without the help of the class of 2027’s Student Council, Principal Talib Sadiq, Staff from ARHS, including: Adam Milaszewski, Mary Custard, Kody Crawford, Carlos Cooper, Heather Denno, Gretchen Santiago, Crystal Colon, and Athletic Trainer Justin Webb.   Additionally, Lawrence Ciccarelli, a local volunteer, was instrumental in making the day a success. From setting up scoreboards and bringing in a DJ to supporting concessions, Lawrence was at the very heart of this event.

“This fundraiser was a powerful reminder of the strength of the ARPS community. Watching students compete while raising funds to support the graduates of 2027 shows what’s possible when we unite for a common cause,” said Dr. Xi, Superintendent.

Proceeds from ticket sales and concessions were split between the Class of 2027 and the ARHS Basketball Program, which supports both the girls’ and boys’ teams. Nearly 400 dollars was raised from the event.

In the end, the “Alley Oop Troop” took home the championship title, besting the “Bueno Bobcats” in the final game. Each winner received a $20 gift certificate from Dicks Sporting Goods, who generously sponsored the tournament.

A special thank you goes to DJ Trends (David Hall) for volunteering his time and talent to keep the energy high with music throughout the tournament.
