ARMS Social Studies and Art departments have teamed up for the 8th year with Amherst’s Amnesty International Chapter to honor universal human rights with a student art display for the month of December, Human Rights Month. ARMS seventh graders and staff have recently finished a unit on the United Nations and Human Rights. Students created artistic representations of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, this year the art form is monochromatic art. Due to COVID restrictions, the art will not be on display at the library, but is viewable on the Jones Library website through January. Please check out the virtual art display at: www.joneslibrary.org/humanrightsartexhibit
To commemorate the U.N.’s Human Rights Day, the Amherst Chapter of Amnesty International will host an event at the Jones Library on December 11, 2021. The event will showcase select pieces of the student art as well as feature guest speakers addressing human rights issues. The ARMS staff wishes to thank the Jones Library for being our gracious host, and our continued partnership with Amnesty International’s Amherst Chapter.
