The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is proud to announce Diane Chamberlain as the next Principal of Summit Academy, effective August 1, 2025. A longtime educational leader within the district, Chamberlain brings a legacy of inclusive leadership and a deep connection to the Summit community.

From her early days as Program Coordinator at Summit Academy (2005–2008) to her more recent administrative roles at Wildwood Elementary, Amherst Regional High School, and Fort River, Chamberlain has left a meaningful mark at every level of K–12 education. Her return to Summit marks a full-circle moment not only in her career but in the life of the school itself.

“From the moment I met Diane, her aura exuded an unmistakable passion for learning and education,” said Superintendent Dr. E. Xiomara Herman. “Every interaction I’ve had with her has centered around one clear and unwavering question: What do we need to do for every learner?”

Chamberlain’s prior leadership experience at ARHS and as a building principal was marked by a strong focus on supporting students with diverse learning needs. Her ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and foster inclusive school communities has made her a respected voice among staff, students, and families.

“Diane’s collaborative spirit and ability to build trust across all levels of the school community make her especially well-suited to lead Summit Academy into its next chapter,” Dr. Xi added. “Diane’s return to Summit is a full-circle moment, rich with purpose and possibility.”

As she steps into this new leadership role, Diane Chamberlain will continue the work of fostering an affirming, supportive environment for every Summit student. The district is confident in her ability to lead with integrity, vision, and heart.

Summit Academy’s current principal, Dave Slovin, will officially retire from his role on June 30, 2025. He will continue supporting the district through the Safe and Supportive Schools initiative, focusing on districtwide safety and security.

The district invites families, students, and staff to join in welcoming Diane Chamberlain back to Summit, a place she once helped build and is now poised to lead into a new era.
