The Church was founded in 1796 in New York City, NY.
It was the first A.M.E. Zion Church.
Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglas attended the NY church.
The first Bishop of the Mother Church was Bishop James Varick.
This was the first black church in New York state, and is still used today.
The pastor is currently Rev. Dr. Gregory R. Smith Sr.
