Policy JIB: Student Involvement in Decision Making (Region)

  As appropriate to the age of students, school government organizationsmay be formed to offer practice in self-government and to serve aschannels for the expression of student ideas and opinions.

The Regional School Committee will take into consideration studentopinions in establishing policies that directly affect student programs,activities, privileges, and other areas of student interest.

Students will be welcomed at Regional School Committee meetings andgranted privileges of speaking in line with the privileges extended thegeneral public.

Student School Committee

As required by state law, Chapter 71, Section 38M, the Regional SchoolCommittee will meet at least once every other month while school is insession with a student advisory committee, which is composed of fivestudents elected by the high school student body.
The elected chairof the student advisory committee is encouraged to participate as anon-voting member of the Regional School Committee at all of its openmeetings.
